When Nokia and Microsoft agreed to collaborate last year in February
it was not sure which company was the other one's safety belt; truth is
Nokia needed to regain a huge chunk of the market lost and Microsoft
needed a strong hardware partner to build the buzz for Windows Phone.
After launching the first Windows Phones -- the Lumia 800 together
with the Lumia 710 -- five months ago, Nokia is confident. "Our strategy
is working. When we formed an alliance last year with Microsoft our
intention was to regain lost share. After one year, it is still working.
We are the number one Windows phone in volume in the world. Our
momentum is accelerating", said Rom Farrell, vice-president of Nokia
Middle East.
Now Nokia (and Microsoft) are betting on the Chinese market with
language support and lower-end, budget devices, but Arabic support will
also arrive soon and Nokia will be ready to commit.
