Camera+ update brings exposure compensation, additional sharing options and more

My favorite iOS camera app, Taptaptap’s Camera+, has received a major, major update this morning. In addition to the flattened appearance that removes clutter and gets rid of skeuomorphism in favor of iOS-friendly look and feel, Camera+ 4 can now (finally) post images to social services beyond Facebook, Twitter and Flickr.
Specifically, you can publish your touch ups to Instagram, Evernote and Dropbox. Also new: the ability to print images wirelessly using any AirPrint-compatible printer connected to the same network as your iPhone, iPod touch and iPad device and more.
We’re only getting started so I’ve included the full list of changes and enhancements in Camera+ 4.0 right past the fold…
The app icon hasn’t changed much…

…but features have.
For starters, Camera+ 4 has exposure compensation which lets you adjust for overly dark or bright lighting situations before hitting the shutter button, shown right below.

The new Square Crop camera switch (below) lets you take shots in the square format which has been tremendously popularized by Instagram and similar services. Heck, even Apple added the square format to the iOS 7 Camera app. It works just the same: instead of cropping your shots in post-processing, Camera 4 lets you take square photos directly.

I’m very much looking forward to another great new enhancement: AirDrop wireless image sharing. Using the standard iOS Share sheet, people can now send their photos to other devices via AirDrop, which works by establishing a secure peer-to-peer connection over Bluetooth and Wi-Fi, zero configuration needed.
Because it’s a hardware-dependent feature, you’ll need an iPhone 5 or later, iPad mini, fourth-gen iPad or fifth-gen iPod touch, along with an iCloud account, to use AirDrop in Camera+ 4.

Finally, Camera+ 4 now supports the standard iOS Open In feature so you can send your photos to other apps installed on your device, such as Instagram, Dropbox and other programs that support opening images from other apps.

This major update is free for all Camera+ users.
