Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch lacks "something special" says Samsung executive

We recently passed along some speculation that included the premise that the release of the Samsung Galaxy Gear smartwatch was just a test run to see how well the product would be received. The rumor included the word that the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2 smartwatch was being developed and would be introduced at CES this coming January.
Among the problems with the first version of the watch is the fact that for now, it pairs via a Bluetooth connection only to the Samsung Galaxy Note 3. Additionally, the 10 hour battery life is said to be low for a device that ideally should stay on your wrist for a solid day before needing to be recharged.
While all of these problems are fixable and will probably be so on the rumored Galaxy Gear 2, a Samsung executive was quoted as saying that "our Gear lacks something special." But the executive also said that with more work on the UI and the User Experience with the sequel, customer satisfaction will improve.
If Samsung did manage to do one thing on its list, it was to launch its new smartwatch before Apple did. The only problem is that the limited functionality of the device prevented Samsung from taking a victory lap for beating Apple to market. The Cupertino based manufacturer has been  hiring new engineers in an attempt to get the iWatch to the next level.

"We’ve acknowledged that our Gear lacks something special. With more investment for user interface and user experience, Samsung devices will be better in terms of customer satisfaction."-Anonymous Samsung executive"
